Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has this afternoon told MPs that school bubbles and restrictions at schools and colleges will soon come to an end, with the education secretary determined to bring restrictions in education in line with the rest of society.
The education secretary says he expects to be able to confirm plans to lift restrictions and bubbles in schools as part of step four of England’s roadmap out of lockdown.
Step four is due to take place on 19 July.
Mr Williamson said that he “didn’t think it is acceptable that children should face greater restrictions over and above those of wider society.”
The changes will not come into effect before the end of the current term, but it’s hoped that when children return to education in September, that the vast majority of restrictions will be lifted so that schools and colleges can return to normal.
More soon.
