Prime Minister Boris Johnson will host a press conference later this evening to update the country on the fight against COVID-19 and the latest news regarding the new strain of the virus.
The prime minister is chairing a COBRA meeting at 2pm.
The government earlier announced that it is working hard to reopen the border with France so that goods can continue to pass through Europe to the UK.
