Downing Street is said to have launched an enquiry this morning after a leak in the media last night about the possibility that Prime Minister Boris Johnson could announce a new national lockdown as early as next week.
There are said to be some furious MP’s who are disappointed that the details of a private meeting between cabinet ministers were briefed to the media, when the government had hoped to keep any announcement quiet until Monday.
Sky News are reporting that “There are some very furious people in government this morning.”
