Herefordshire Highways have this afternoon provided an update on the Commercial Road sinkhole closure in Hereford.
From Herefordshire Highways:
“Commercial Road – Update on Emergency Lane Closure
Following last night’s emergency road closure on Commercial Road, today’s investigations have confirmed that the sinkhole was caused by a collapsed sewer, which falls under Welsh Water’s infrastructure.
Welsh Water are now mobilising their teams to carry out the necessary repairs.
The road remains closed between Blueschool Street and Hereford County Hospital, with a diversion in place.
Please continue to use alternative routes and follow local signage.
We’ll share further updates as they become available.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
