Two teenagers are reported to have died after emergency services were called to a railway line.

Emergency services were called late on Thursday evening to Poynton station in Cheshire, to reports of an incident on the railway.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said:

“Officers were called at around 10.10pm on 3rd July to reports of a casualty on the tracks near Poynton railway station.

“Officers attended with paramedics. Very sadly and despite the best efforts of paramedics two people were both pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”
