There is a major incident in the North Sea this afternoon, following a collision between a tanker and a cargo ship, with reports of a fire.
The RNLI have also reported that people have ‘abandoned ship’ and that rescue efforts are underway.
Several lifeboats are at the scene. There are also a number of helicopters in the area.
There are reports on ‘X’ of a large fire breaking out on at least one of the vessels involved in the incident.
The collision is understood to have occurred just a few miles east of the Yorkshire / Lincolnshire coast.
