Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service have provided a major update following an incident on the River Wye in Hereford on Monday evening.
Emergency services were called to the Lower Bullingham area of Hereford at just before 6.30pm to reports that a person had entered the River Wye.
Local residents also reported seeing activity near Hereford Rowing Club, and also near the Wye Inn pub.
West Mercia Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service and Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service all attended the incident.
A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service told Your Herefordshire:
“A Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crew from Hereford Fire Station including water first responders, boat crews from Hereford and Worcester plus in the incident support unit and drone from Ledbury were called at 18:24 on 1 July to a rescue from water at Lower Bullingham, Hereford.
“A female casualty in her 50s was rescued from the water by the water first responder team and handed over to the care of the ambulance service who attended along with police.
“The incident was marked as pending closure at 20:26.”
