A man has today (Friday 4 July) been sentenced to a total of two years imprisonment suspended for two years for distributing and making hundreds of indecent images of children and possession of extreme pornography.

Scott Thomas, 27, of Ramsons Close, Malvern, pled guilty at Worcester Crown Court on 10 June to three counts of making indecent photographs of children, three counts of distributing indecent photographs of children, possession of a prohibited image of a child, possession of extreme pornography and publishing an obscene article.

He was further ordered to comply with a supervision requirement with the Probation Service with a 60-day rehabilitation requirement and 300 hours unpaid work. He was also made subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years.

Thomas was arrested in October 2023 and following a full forensic examination his mobile phone was found to contain the following: –

Hundreds of indecent photographs of children across Categories A, B and C. The approximate age range for the children within the images was between six months to 16 years of age.

Distribution of indecent photographs of children across Categories A, B and C

Conversations showing the distribution of child sexual abuse material clearly showed a sexual interest in children by Thomas where he not only distributed child abuse images but discussed sexual acts that he would like to commit on children.

His devices were also found to contain prohibited images and extreme pornographic images relating to bestiality.

He also published an obscene article where he entered an online discussion over the rape of a three-year-old boy.

DS Tarryn Schimmel, formerly of the Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team, said: “Thomas is a disgusting individual with an interest in the sexual abuse of children who narrowly avoided jail time today as he stated he was a carer for a family member.

“The level of his sick offending shows his flagrant disregard of the effects of his vile actions on the young victims of such criminality.

“He quite rightly will have to engage in work to address his offending and will have to register as a sex offender for ten years.”
