A man has been arrested following a suspected kidnapping in Worcester this evening (Tuesday 30 September).

At around 7.18pm officers were called to Hazel Close following reports that a man appeared to have been forced into a white van.

Officers attended the scene, and quickly located the van at a petrol station nearby on Tolladine Road.

A 25-year-old man, believed to be the victim, was located uninjured and is being looked after by specially trained officers.

A 45-year-old man from Birmingham, was located near the petrol station and arrested on suspicion of kidnapping. He remains in police custody.

Officers believe a number of suspects remain outstanding and are working to locate them.

An investigation has been launched and officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.

Inspector Ed Shotton, said: “We understand an incident like this will cause concern to the public. We currently have one man in custody and officers are working hard to located anyone else who may have been involved.

“Due to the nature of the incident there is likely to be a large police presence in Hazel Close and Tolladine Road while enquiries and searches of the area take place.

“I would like to thank the public for their help so far, and would encourage anyone who witnessed the incident earlier this evening to please get in touch with police immediately.”
