West Mercia Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested following a fire at a property in Hereford on Friday evening.

Officers confirmed that they were called alongside Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service to reports of a fire in the South Wye area of Hereford.

A 29-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endangering life and was taken into custody.

A police cordon has remained in place at the property.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police told Your Herefordshire:

“Police were called to a fire at a property in Fallowfield Close, Hereford at around 12.46am on Saturday 19th August.

“It is believed the fire was started deliberately and it is being treated as arson.

“A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endangering life and was taken into custody.”
