A major route is closed this morning following reports that armed police are responding to an incident near Gloucester.
The incident has occurred on the A40 near Gloucester, with traffic at a standstill near the Over Roundabout, close to Toby Carvery.
The route is popular with motorists heading towards Gloucester / Cheltenham from Herefordshire.
A police helicopter is reportedly searching for at least one individual and officers have told motorists that the road could remain closed for some time.
One person has commented on a local message board saying that the road is currently being cordoned off by officers. Motorists are advised to use an alternative route for the time being.
