Pressure has grown on Boris Johnson overnight after the Liberal Democrats overturned a HUGE Conservative majority to win the North Shropshire by-election.
The Prime Minister has been under fire for a number of days now, following the news that a Christmas party was held at Downing Street last year, with a number of staff attending whilst the majority of the United Kingdom was under lockdown restrictions.
Liberal Democrat candidate Helen Morgan won the by-election with a total of 17,957 votes, ahead of Tory candidate Neil Shastri-Hurst on 12,032. Labour’s candidate Ben Wood was third with a total of 3,686 votes.
Jesse Norman (MP for Hereford and Herefordshire South) and Bill Wiggin (MP for Herefordshire North) will both be hoping that confidence is restored in the government by the time the next election comes, with Bill Wiggin’s majority being similar to the one that was previously held by the Conservatives in North Shropshire.
