Wye Valley NHS Trust has taken the decision to double the capacity of its Intensive Care Unit from 8 beds to 16 beds, as pressure grows with more patients being hospitalised and requiring ventilation due to COVID-19.
In a message to staff, Jane Ives (Managing Director of Wye Valley NHS Trust) explains the difficult decisions facing the trust and that all training and meetings have been cancelled so that extra support can be delivered.
In the video message to staff, she added that the decision to double the ICU capacity has been made so that Wye Valley NHS Trust can continue to care for patients from Herefordshire, Mid Powys and the wider region, as pressure on the NHS continues to grow.
