GMB union members employed by British Airways at Heathrow to strike during the summer holidays.
Around 709 members of staff are expected to strike during the summer holidays (dates to be confirmed), with severe disruption inevitable if action goes ahead.
Those planning to strike are believed to mostly be check-in staff and ground staff. The reason behind the strike is that staff have not had a 10% pay cut during the COVID-19 pandemic reinstated.
This, combined with the rising cost of living, has led staff to feel that they have no option but to strike.
More information is expected in the coming days. Passengers are advised to continue to check before they travel, with Heathrow experiencing a number of cancellations over recent weeks.
