A fire has broken out overnight at Europe’s biggest nuclear power plant in Ukraine, after it was attacked by Russian troops, sparking huge concerns over a major disaster.

Fortunately, The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said at present there was no change in radiation levels as a result of the attack.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has made a statement overnight following the attack.

He said:

“I’ve just spoken to President Zelenskyy about the gravely concerning situation at Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station.

“Russia must immediately cease its attack on the power station and allow unfettered access for emergency services to the plant.”

The fire at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe has been put out by fire crews. The nuclear plant was hit by shelling in the early hours of Friday.
