COVID-19 vaccinations will become mandatory for NHS staff and social care workers in England from April 2022, Health Secretary Sajid Javid has confirmed this afternoon.
It will therefore be mandatory for over 1 million NHS staff in England to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with estimates showing that around 100,000 NHS staff are currently not fully vaccinated.
The health secretary went on to say that those who do not have face-to-face contact with patients, and those who are medically exempt will not be required to be fully vaccinated.
More soon.
