Chancellor Rishi Sunak is announcing a number of measures this afternoon to help with the ever rising cost of living.
The Chancellor has made the following announcements:
- The £200 energy bill rebate will no longer need to be repaid and will be doubled to £400.
- Pensioners who receive winter fuel payment will receive a one-off £300 payment in the Autumn. A one-off disability payment of £150 will also be made.
- Eight million low income households will receive a one-off £650 payment. This will be sent two lump sums with one in July, and the other from autumn. It will automatically be sent to those eligibles bank accounts.
- Windfall tax announced on the oil and gas sector
