Prime Minister Boris Johnson will host a COVID-19 press conference at 5pm this evening. He will be joined by Professor Chris Whitty (Chief Medical Officer for England) and Dr Nikki Kanani (Medical Director of Primary Care at NHS England).
The briefing is expected to focus on the vaccine rollout and will also provide a general insight into the latest data surrounding the Omicron variant that is now spreading around the United Kingdom and most of the world.
A COBRA meeting is set to take place today, with concerns that the rapid spread of the Omicron variant could see the NHS becoming overwhelmed at what is already an extremely busy time of year.
