Prime Minister Boris Johnson has told PMQs that he will detail a roadmap to lifting restrictions in the week of 22nd February, with increasing calls from businesses and educational settings for further information so that they have time to plan for reopening.

Mr Johnson added that he ‘hopes’ to have schools in the England open on the 8th March and that the government was ‘doing all it could’ to move towards this.

However, Mr Johnson appeared far from his usual positive self with concerns over new variants of COVID-19 troubling some in government. The Prime Minister also said that the public would likely ‘have to get used’ to vaccine boosters in the autumn to stamp out and restrict the spread of any new variants.
