Prime Minister Boris Johnson has told MPs on the Liaison Committee that he is “concerned” and that the United Kingdom is currently “taking steps” to keep out the variant found in parts of Brazil.

Japan’s Health Ministry has already confirmed that four cases of the variant have been found in travellers who arrived in the country from Brazil.

Boris Johnson said:

“I think it’s fair to say that there are lots of questions we still have.”

“We already have tough measures… to protect this country from new infections coming in from abroad”.
