The A49 is likely to remain closed in both directions between Hereford and Ross-on-Wye for several hours following a serious collision this morning.
The collision has occurred between Much Birch and Harewood End.
West Mercia Police are at the scene of the incident.
West Midlands Ambulance Service and Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service are also in attendance.
There are tailbacks for several miles and motorists are advised to use an alternative route.
