The annual Sue Parry Football Tournament is set to take place on a Saturday afternoon this summer, with a change from the normal Sunday slot.
A post on the St Michael’s Hospice website says:
“After a sell out event last year, raising a record breaking amount, the Sue Parry Football Tournament will be back for 2022.
“So, join us for the Sue Parry six-a-side Football Tournament on Saturday 25th June.
“Throughout the day, Men’s, Women’s and Junior teams will battle it out to win their respective competitions.
“As we edge closer to kick-off, we’ll announce more on this page about the range of attractions which will be on offer for players and spectators on the day.”
Sue Parry received care from St Michael’s before she died in July 1999 after contracting cancer.
As a keen Chelsea fan, mum Sandra said a football-based fundraiser seemed a fitting tribute to her wonderful daughter.
‘There is nothing worse than losing a child,’ she said.
‘Sue was a kind, inspirational person who was full of life.
‘It was from Sue and the time I spent looking after her that I decided to go into nursing.
‘Sue’s family feels passionate about supporting our Hospice and each year the goal is to raise awareness of how reliant St Michael’s is on the generous support of the community.’
