British pop rock icons McFly have been announced as the first headliner for Live at Ludlow Castle 2027 following another sell-out summer which saw 50,000 attendees visit the historic grounds of the beloved Shropshire landmark across two weekends, making it the biggest iteration of the event to date.
Formed in 2003, McFly made history and became a household name all but overnight when their 2004 debut album, Room on the 3rd Floor, entered at no. 1 in the UK Album Charts, making them the youngest band ever to do so and taking that record from another well known four piece, The Beatles.
23 years, one hiatus and seven hit albums later, McFly are looking back at where it all began; lean, loud and live guitar music. Power To Play, the band’s latest full length, is McFly’s biggest and boldest offering yet; a reinvigorated celebration of rock music, that when paired with indelible hits like ‘Five Colours In Her Hair’, ‘Obviously’, ‘Star Girl’ and, of course ‘All About You’, is bound to be make for an unforgettable night in the 11th century grounds of Ludlow Castle.
All set to enter its fifth year, this summer’s Live at Ludlow Castle series was its most ambitious yet and featured a diverse range of musical legends, rising stars and local up-and-coming acts across eight packed shows. Headliners Snow Patrol, Paul Weller, The Human League, Tom Grennan, The Streets, Rick Astley, Richard Ashcroft and Scissor Sisters were joined by the likes of Corinne Baile Rae, Miles Kane, Marc Almond, The Lightning Seeds, Heather Small, CAST as well as up and coming acts such as Ellur, The Florentinas, Versaints and more.
Since its debut in 2023, Live at Ludlow Castle has welcomed a growing new audience of music lovers from around the country. Selling out year on year, the event has become a vital and highly anticipated event in the town’s cultural calendar.
Next year’s concerts will mark the beginning of an exclusive programming deal between Futuresound, the independent promoters behind the concert series and Ludlow Castle’s management team which will see the concert series take place inside the Shropshire landmark until at least 2033. Founded by Ludlow man Colin Oliver, Leeds-based Futuresound have worked with Ludlow Castle on creating, establishing and realising the annual series of 6,000 capacity events and the partnership is fully committed to secure the iconic site as one of the UK’s premier outdoor venues for live music, comedy and more.
Awarded Regional Promoter of the Year at the 2025 LIVE Awards; the event’s promoters Futuresound Group are excited to continue applying their decades of experience and passion to live music within the Castle walls for years to come.
