The George Clive Award for best forestry student at the Holme Lacy Campus of Hereford, Ludlow and North Shropshire College has been presented to Jack Williams.
Jack is from a farming background. He has been completing a Level 2 Forestry Operative apprenticeship attached to the Whitfield Estate (RFS member) near Hereford.
His award includes a Zubat Silky Fox Handsaw generously donated by James Davenport.
The presentation was made by Nick Smith, RFS Herefordshire Chair, during an RFS visit to Holme Lacy Estate woodlands. 1st and 2nd year forestry and arb students joined RFS Members for the visit. Interesting and engaging discussions were led by forestry lecturers Judith Webb MBE, Sara Roberts and Lu Mason.
The George Clive Award is presented annually by the Herefordshire Division to the most conscientious student in recognition of the noted forester George Clive.
