The Courtyard is thrilled to announce the installation of a brand-new mobility hoist.

The hoist is available for trained carers and PAs to use with their clients when accessing classes, workshops and activities at The Courtyard andcan be used in all areas of the building.

The hoist has been designed to offer a high feature-set of options that have been blended with new technologies to provide maximum comfort and security when lifting or transferring a customer out of or into a chair.

“We’re always looking for ways we can be more accessible at The Courtyard,” says Audience Development & Hospitality Programming Manager Robyn Barratt, “so when a request came in from a young person wanting to join our workshops but struggling due to our lack of mobile hoist, it was an easy decision. We’re so grateful to have the support of Rotherwood Healthcare and thrilled to open up our offering to even more people regardless of their needs through this new equipment.”

This new addition compliments the Changing Places Toilet facility that was installed at The Courtyard in February 2024. The specialised facilities allow everyone to participate in day-to-day activities at The Courtyard without having to go offsite to access appropriate toilet facilities. This has enabled The Courtyard to become a more inclusive venue for wheelchair users, those with bowel control problems, learning disabilities, autism, muscle wasting conditions, spina bifida, dementia and other disabilities.

The Courtyard would like to thank Rotherwood Healthcare for donating the mobile hoist, helping the venue on its mission to become as accessible and inclusive as possible.
