The ‘Thank You NHS’ Spitfire will fly over Hereford County Hospital this morning. The Spitfire will fly across the skies above Hereford at approximately 11.10am.
The Spitfire has been touring the country, with the aim to raise money for NHS Charities Together. The initiative is to recognise small acts of kindness throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, such as those from a family member or a community hero.

From the NHS’s 72nd Birthday on the 5th July 2020 you will be offered the unique opportunity to nominate the name of a loved one to be hand written onto family-owned Aircraft Restoration Company’s iconic, blue Spitfire as it takes flight to raise money for NHS Charities Together. During this time the Photo-Reconnaissance Spitfire will also be carrying a very special message: ‘THANK U NHS’.
From a family member to a close friend or supportive neighbour, you can say thank you for their support through the Covid-19 pandemicby nominating their name to be written upon the NHS Spitfire. By doing so you will also be helping to raise money for the incredible people working and volunteering within our NHS. There is room for 80,000 names, and as these are added to the Spitfire, the UK will be able to watch this extraordinary visual spectacle unfold. A kind gesture that will donate to a great cause. Donation window closes on 20th September 2020.
The aim is to lift the spirits of those across the UK, many of whom are still living in some form of isolation, whilst also thanking the hospitals, communities and individuals who have been at the forefront of getting the country through the pandemic.
During the next few months, the team at Aircraft Restoration Company will be carefully planning flight routes across UK mainland local communities and hospitals. Flight routes will be updated via the Aircraft Restoration Company Instagram & Facebook channels as well as www.aircraftrestorationcompany.com/nhsspitfire
