The team at Taurus Healthcare are celebrating this evening after being awarded with an award for Infection Prevention and Control at the Nursing Times Awards 2020.
The award was presented to highlight the fantastic work that was put in to set up the Super Green Clinic in Hereford at Sarum house in April to help care for shielding patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Super Green Clinic was set up as a joint venture between Taurus Healthcare and Primary Care networks in Herefordshire.
They had volunteers from a range of backgrounds and multiple nurses. They saw shielding patients during a time when it was too unsafe for them to visit their own GP practice. Accepting the award on behalf of Taurus Healthcare was Cate Lamport, who was co-lead nurse with Deborah Suer.
Editor of Nursing Times, Steve Ford, said: “The annual Nursing Times Awards showcase the innovation and best practice of nurses and midwives across the UK, providing an opportunity to celebrate and share all that is good about the nursing profession.
“But I think it’s safe to say that these awards for 2020 are even more special in a number of ways.
“Over the past 12 months, we have seen the incredible work of nursing staff highlighted globally, first by the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife that marks 200 years since the birth of Florence Nightingale, and then, by the massive challenge posed by the coronavirus pandemic.
“Covid-19 has tested the profession probably like no other crisis, with nurses demonstrating their expertise, skill and innovation, whatever their specialty or setting.
“So, this year more than ever, congratulations to our winners at the 2020 Nursing Times Awards!”
