St Michael’s Hospice is launching a four-day fundraising campaign to support its nursing teams out on the road.

‘Fuel the Journey, Power the Care’ begins this Friday (8th) with the aim of raising £43,250 towards fuelling, leasing and insuring the fleet of Hospice at Home vehicles used by St Michael’s to visit patients across Herefordshire.

Around a third of the care delivered by the Bartestree-based Hospice in the past year took place in people’s homes.

“It’s hugely important to everyone at St Michael’s that people have the choice of where they wish to receive care,” said Rachel Jones, the Hospice’s Income Generation, Marketing & Communications Director.

“This care is so expertly provided by our Hospice at Home team, who in all weathers, head out to care for people across our community.”

These nursing teams travel up to 150 miles a day, reaching over 220 patients each month to provide nursing, urgent care, and compassionate support.

The care ranges from Urgent Care Nurse visits and specialist nurses who work with care homes, to night teams supporting families, and post-death care teams helping wash and dress loved ones with dignity.

St Michael’s says each donation to its ‘Fuel the Journey, Power the Care’ campaign will be doubled thanks to generous match funders; Albert Hunt Trust, Gavin James, Humfrys and Symonds, Level Peaks, St James’s Place, and Xlightshows.io

This means £21,625 from supporters during the appeal would see the goal reached.

The four-day campaign begins at 8am on Friday 8thAugust.
