Rural Media today announces that its founder and CEO, Nic Millington, will be stepping-down in Spring 2026 after more than three decades of dedicated leadership.

Since establishing the charity in 1992, Nic has built Rural Media into a nationally recognised organisation that empowers rural communities, nurtures emerging talent, and produces award-winning media.

Under his leadership, Rural Media has created acclaimed broadcast content through its commercial arm, Rural Studios, and championed unheard voices through ground-breaking participatory projects. Most recently, Nic spearheaded the launch of StoryPoint, a bold new creative hub in Hereford that will transform opportunities for rural talent and position the West Midlands as a centre of cultural innovation.

David Holdsworth, Chair of Trustees, said:

Nic has devoted much of his working life to the development of Rural Media. He is an inspirational leader who is widely admired for his charity work and for the way he has contributed to the cultural and educational life of Herefordshire and beyond. Finding a successor will not be easy, and Nic continues to steer the organisation as it prepares to open StoryPoint, a digital skills centre in the heart of Hereford.

As Nic steps down, Rural Media is looking for a new Chief Executive to guide the organisation into its next chapter. This unique role spans charity leadership, commercial growth, and the continued development of StoryPoint as a beacon for creativity, skills, and enterprise in the region.

The organisation is seeking a values-driven, entrepreneurial leader who can inspire teams, build partnerships, and balance creative ambition with financial sustainability.

Applications are now open for this exceptional opportunity to shape the future of a pioneering charity at the intersection of arts, media, and social justice.
