On Friday evening at the Left Bank in Hereford, a group of people slept out to raise funds for homelessness in the county. Despite near freezing conditions and heavy rain in the early hours, the group successfully completed the sleep out.

So far over £1,500 has been raised and that amount is still rising. If you would like to donate you can so by clicking this link -> Ethos | Localgiving

The event was run in connection with Ethos who are a charity that has its roots in homelessness, they are a group of people with over 50 years of experience supporting people.

They felt that something more needed to be done to help people, at the point they needed it, instead of when they reached crisis.  A core part of what they wanted to do was to help people in food poverty, they also wanted to fight food surplus.  So they started The Living Room in Commercial Road.

Ethos, wanted to create a space where people could access support and signposting for a range of issues from housing advice, money matters and wellbeing.

Ethos works on an asset based model where they look at peoples strengths not weaknesses and enable people to support themselves by offering no judgmental assistance in house and by signposting to other agencies or community groups.

They offer a range of ways to get involved through sharing a skill with others if you want to volunteer to giving  a helping hand to new groups that what to highlight an issue in the county. They also help people to gain essential work skills to get back into work after a period of unemployment.
