One of the messiest events Hereford has ever seen heads to the city this summer.
Hundreds are set to be dunked in slime, covered in paintand drenched with water during the first ever Messy Runner.
The family-friendly event takes place on Saturday 17thJune and is being organised by St Michael’s Hospice as an expansion to the popular Paint Runner fundraiser which ended last year.
Early ticket sales have been strong with around 500 places already sold. The Hospice is now urging those without a ticket to book their spot at the King George V Playing Fields event which will see entrants tackle a 3k route featuring ten wacky stations, each designed to get people messy.
“We’re very excited to launch Messy Runner, and very grateful to those who have already secured their tickets,” said Natasha Walshe, event organiser for St Michael’s Hospice.
“We always say our fundraisers make a mark, and on this day that will quite literally be true. We can’t wait to welcome them to what is sure to be a memorable event.”
A DJ and dance warm-up will get fundraisers in the mood, and alongside the slime, paint and water, there will be a foam party to round off the fun.
The powder paint used during the event is biodegradable, non-toxic and will wash off. The event will be sponsored by Hereford-based Easy Garage.
Alongside the entry fee to the event, St Michael’s is encouraging entrants to raise sponsorship for the Hospice, with a suggested minimum of £15.
St Michael’s provides palliative and end-of-life care to families across Herefordshire and beyond.
It relies on community support to fund the majority ofits care, with funds from this event heading straight back to the charity.
