A retired Hereford postie next week gets a very special delivery .. the very first MONOPOLY: Hereford Edition game to roll off the presses from Winning Moves UK and Hasbro, a global brand entertainment company.
The board’s ‘Big Reveal’ is next Thursday (6th October 2022) – when a GIGANTIC life-size replica of the MONOPOLY edition for Hereford will be rolled out revealing which landmarks are on the board – and in which positions.
In this unique edition of the world’s most famous board game ALL the famous multi-coloured MONOPOLY property squares like Mayfair and Park Lane from the classic MONOPOLY London original are represented by Hereford landmarks and organisations like the Cathedral and the Edgar Street Stadium. The Community Chest and Chance cards and money are Hereford themed too.
Hereford landed the honour of its very own customised MONOPOLY game after seeing off 24 other places across the west of the Midlands to win the accolade of its own official MONOPOLY board. The announcement was made in February. At the time of the announcement the public was invited to suggest landmarks to feature in the game. Later the bosses put out search for a VIP.
Graham, 58, wrote in his entry that when he was a child and fell behind at MONOPOLY he would unsportingly hurl the board in the air, pretending it was an accident!
“Many congratulations to Graham,” says Ella Gibbs, Custom Games Executive at Winning Moves UK, who are the makers of the board under official licensing from Hasbro. “His entry made us laugh out loud.”
Graham says: “I’m thrilled to be winning the first game and look forward to discover how many places on the board I have delivered to.
“This time I’ll try my best this time not to throw the board in the air if I’m losing!”.
Over the last 25 years Winning Moves UK and Hasbro have produced official versions of MONOPOLY in cities all over the world from Dubai to Sydney .. and now Hereford.
The MONOPOLY: Hereford Edition game hits the shops at 10am next Thursday and will be available at Waterstones, WHSmith and extensively online, including on Amazon and Booghe.
