During its month long stay in Hereford, over 100,000 people visited the Knife Angel outside Hereford Cathedral. A huge number, including a vast number of local schools that used a trip to the Knife Angel as a piece of education.

Thousands of photos have been shared on social media and thousands of pounds donated by those that visited. The real success however was the number of weapons that were handed in during its stay, with volunteers last night confirming that hundreds of knives had been handed in during the weapons amnesty.

Official Photographer Jon Simpson had the following to say yesterday:

“Said goodbye to the Knife Angel Hereford today after its month standing sentinel outside Hereford Cathedral.

“This amazing sculpture created by Alfie’s Art and The British Ironwork Centre has made a big impact locally and all involved in bringing it, supporting it, visiting it, and ferrying it home have done a fantastic job.

“Well played Hereford and a special thank you to Meryl and Alison for your vision, perseverance and tireless effort, enjoy a well earned hot chocolate.”
