Hereford Sixth Form College is thrilled to announce the expansion of its campus to a brand-new building, Thornbury, which opened October 2023.

After receiving a £1.1 million grant from the Education Funding Agency, the college has access to 9 new classrooms, a dance studio, and a purpose-built gym.

Featured on the ground floor, new gym “Form Fitness” houses a wide range of equipment such as the row machine, chest press, and curve runner. Other facilities include new changing rooms with access directly next to our sports pitches and outdoor training area.

The sociology and criminology departments are enjoying the beautiful views of Herefordshire from the first and second floors respectively. With a comfortable ratio of computer rooms to traditional classrooms, both subjects are sure to thrive in this new space.

Also situated on the first floor is the new dance studio which will be used by the Performing Arts Department including subjects such as dance, acting, drama, and musical theatre.

Additionally, there is a new catering unit called The Hut outside the building with plenty of sunny benches and space to relax before lesson.

It serves a wide range of options including street food, healthy smoothies, and hot beverages.

After being graded outstanding by OFSTED during the last inspection, 2023 saw a record intake with over 2200 students.

Hereford Sixth Form College is celebrating its 50th anniversary in the 2023-2024 academic year. Principal Catherine Brearey states that “it’s a fabulous time for growth and new opportunities for our students and staff at such a significant milestone.”

The new building was opened in a humble ceremony by local dignitaries including Jesse Norman, MP for Hereford, and South Hereford.
