Hereford heating engineer Connor Wise has been announced as a finalist in the Young Engineer Award at LAMMA 2023 competition.

Connor has developed a solution to streamline the process of loading a biomass boiler by removing the need for manual filling, raw materials, and pre-warming. He believes that the system could provide benefits for anyone who currently uses a biomass boiler system to heat their farm buildings.

Members of the public are now able to vote for Connor in the hunt for this year’s winner athttps://bit.ly/LAMMAYoungEngineer. The Young Engineer Award at LAMMA 2023 is run in collaboration with The Institution of Agricultural Engineers (IAgrE) to showcase the next generation of agricultural engineers and celebrates their passion for innovation and sustainability.

Having received a number of outstanding entries, an independent panel of judges selected this year’s three finalists: Christopher Chavasse from London, Connor Wise from Hereford, and Daniel Broderick from Omagh.

The other Young Engineer Award at LAMMA 2023 finalists are:

Christopher Chavasse is Founder and Chief Technology Officer of the London-based Muddy Machines Ltd. Over the last two years he has developed ‘Sprout’, a lightweight, battery-powered, multipurpose field robot designed to harvest asparagus. Designed to be scalable, he believes that the robot provides a sustainable option to address seasonal labour gaps.
