NEWS | Hereford dancers meet their inspiration

After over a decade of dancing in Hereford, co-founders of The Starlight Company Becks White and Kim Owen along with other teachers and students, took a trip to London and they met their inspiration, founder of the Pineapple Dance Studios, Debbie Moore. 

The team boarded their very own Starlight express train to London to visit the two key inspirations for their existence; Pineapple dance studios and Starlight Express.

Pineapple Studio’s open-door, accessible classes is what the company always wanted to create and after they took a class there they were unbelievably lucky to meet the founder CBE Debbie Moore who “photo bombed” their selfie outside her studios! 

Debbie, retired model and businesswoman who founded the Pineapple Dance Studios and its associated clothing brand, was the first woman to float a company on the London Stock Exchange and in 1984 was an early winner of the prestigious Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of The Year Award. 

Debbie chatted to the dancers offering words of advice and encouragement as well as directions! Becks White CEO of The Starlight Company commented “The stars aligned for us, a dream come true to be standing face to face with the woman who has inspired you to follow your own dreams. She was still so passionate about her purpose, as our we and we feel this meeting was a sign that we are on our right path.”

The crew then went on to the new adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express. A show that they saw 30 years ago and its message and meaning is the bedrock of which Starlight is founded on.
