Herefordshire children receiving free school meals can enjoy a wide range of activities during the summer holidays
Children and young people in Herefordshire who receive benefits-related free school meals are invited to sign up to enjoy free activities during the summer break.
Herefordshire Council’s Talk Community team are working in partnership with local organisations to deliver a range of exciting free indoor and outdoor activities through the summer holidays.
The Here for Herefordshire programme aims to get young people involved with new and exciting activities, from sport to music, dance, drama, pottery and cooking. The programme helps to improve socialisation skills by encouraging children to have fun while making new friends.
There will also be a free healthy meal for children at each activity session.
Councillor Diana Toynbee, Herefordshire Council Cabinet Member for Children’s and Family Services, and Young People’s Attainment, said:
“I’m delighted we have received funding to keep offering this support to families in our communities.
“This is a great opportunity for children to discover new activities, make friends, connect with nature, learn new skills and enjoy a tasty nutritious meal during the holidays.”
Councillor Toynbee, added:
“We are lucky in Herefordshire to have brilliant groups working with young people, so a huge thank you to all of them for signing up with us. It’s a tough time for families at the moment, and this programme will add fun and opportunities to the summer holidays.”
Eligible families can book their places through the holiday activities page on the Talk Community website: www.talkcommunity.org/holidayactivities
The Here for Herefordshire Holidays programme is funded by the Department of Education.
