A local Herefordshire farm shop wants to recognise someone in the local community whose support during the lockdowns has gone unrewarded.
Oakchurch Farm Shop at Staunton-on-Wye is inviting you to nominate anyone you know who has gone beyond the call of duty to help the elderly and vulnerable, whether it be a family member, friend, or neighbour.
The winner, chosen by a panel of judges, will receive a £250 prize to spend in the garden centre at Oakchurch.
“We all very much appreciate the work of the NHS staff during the coronavirus pandemic, not to mention all of the other key workers who have worked tirelessly and without question to keep the country moving.” Said Oakchurch Farm Shop owner, Nick Price. “Emptying our bins, keeping our supermarket shelves stocked, delivering our post…..the list is endless!”
“However, we’re very aware that there are also numerous individuals out there who have been doing their bit for their local community without recognition. Supporting vulnerable people by doing their shopping for them, collecting prescriptions, mowing their lawns or simply knocking on their door occasionally to say ‘Hello there, are you OK. Do you need anything?’”
You can nominate a Local Lockdown Hero on the Oakchurch Farm Shop website at www.oakchurch.net/pages/lockdownhero
Entries must be received by midnight on Friday 26th March.
Oakchurch Farm Shop is at Staunton-on-Wye, just 10 minutes from Hereford on the A438 Brecon Road.
