Safety on our streets | Hereford City Council have agreed to grant Vennture £3,000 to go towards their continued efforts in making our streets a safer place for all.
Vennture provides a physical presence on the street with their ambassadors and street pastors, who support those in need of help both in the daytime and the night-time. This involves giving people who are lost, injured or too intoxicated appropriate assistance, and provides them a safe place to recover.
The ‘Lean on Me’ project involves a team of young volunteers, who are trained on how to best deal with these situations, and also gives them first hand experience in the field. This helps increase Vennture’s presence, reducing demands on both the NHS and Police, and they have even won a national award in the past for their work.
City Councillors were very pleased to support the project, and agreed that safety on our streets is of paramount importance, especially at night. The funding will go towards giving Vennture the financial security to continue its fantastic work.
Vennture’s night-time presence will return on 12th of April, when Lockdown restrictions are expected to ease.
