Building work is well underway as one of the Stronger Hereford projects gathers pace.

The new, industry-standard studio space at Hereford College of Arts will open in the Spring, and will be available to students across all courses.

Designed to operational net zero standards by RIBA award-winning architect Kate Darby, the pioneering facility is set up for co-working, collaborative space – and to host seminars.

An unrivalled digital studio for the city, it will be available to all HCA students  – and provide a space tailor-made to launch the careers of the next generation of digital content creator, entrepreneurs and creative games designers.

From Stronger Hereford:

There’s lots going on behind the scenes on our various projects and today we’re excited to share a first look around the construction site at Hereford College of Arts.

At the College Road Campus, two run-down 20th Century extensions to the listed building are being transformed.

They will become a flagship, industry-standard teaching and learning base focusing on creative digital skills in film, animation, games design, augmented reality, interface design and more.

The HCA Digital Skills Centre is set to open in the spring and will be instrumental in helping create a new generation of digital talent.

Applications are now open for two new degrees starting September 2024, in Digital Content Design and Games Design.

It’s not only degree students who will benefit from the new centre as facilities will also be opened up for school age Saturday clubs and adult short courses.

It’s a key element of Stronger Hereford’s aim to create more opportunities to develop skills, access training and, ultimately, enhance employment prospects.

The centre has been designed by the award-winning, Herefordshire-based, Kate Darby Architects, with C J Bayliss Hereford Ltd as the appointed building contractor.
