An iconic pre-Christmas sight is set to bring festive cheer to the streets of Hereford.
St Michael’s Hospice has confirmed its ever-popular Santa Run, taking place on Sunday 17th December, has sold-out with around 300 signed up.
All ages don Santa suits and choose from a 2.5K or 5K jog through Hereford city centre, finishing at the start point outside Maylord Shopping Centre.
Each year, the event helps raise thousands of pounds for the Bartestree-based charity which provides palliative and end-of-life care to those across Herefordshire and beyond, along with support for loved ones.
“We’re delighted so many of our supporters will be joining us for Santa Run,” said Natasha Walshe, Events and Community Fundraiser at St Michael’s.
“Seeing hundreds of Santas dash through Hereford is such an iconic sight. We hope they’re looking forward to it as much as we are.”
For anyone wishing to catch a glimpse of the Santa Run, it begins outside Maylord Shopping Centre at 10am on Sunday 17th December.
The Santa Run will round-off a busy and successful period for St Michael’s, which has seen each of its 16 Grotto nights sell out. Its annual Light up a Life service at Hereford Cathedral yesterday (10th December) was also fully booked.
“We’ve welcomed young families excited to see Santa, and supporters wishing to remember loved ones during a poignant service at the Cathedral,” added Natasha.
“The funds we receive from these events are vital and help ensure the palliative and end-of-life care provided by St Michael’s can continue. We would like to thank everyone who has helped support St Michael’s this Christmas.”
Bookings are now open for the St Michael’s Hospice Christmas Tree Collection service. For more information about collection locations, and to book, click here https://www.st-michaels-hospice.org.uk/event/christmas-tree-collection/
