Dogs, Dogs and More Dogs!

From Hay Animal Rescue Team – Read Before Enquiring!

Available – Rocco – Tig – Apollo – Monty

Apollo

“Apollo is a 12 month old Cockapoo, he is a very special lad and is so lovely.

“Due to being a cocker spaniel cross poodle, Apollo is extremely high energy and intelligent! Consider what this combination means and if his needs match your lifestyle-yes he’s cute, no he’s not an accessory!

“Apollo is so cuddly and affectionate with his people, he loves nothing more than a cwtch on the sofa!

“Apollo is house trained, crate trained and understands some basic obedience.

“Apollo is a little overexcitable in the house and can be a little bit much bouncing round (in the cutest way) and Apollo lacks some boundaries and will get up on the kitchen side for a sneaky lick.

“Apollo shows no aggression towards cats but can be a bit much!

“Apollo CANNOT be homed with children, he came to us partly due to his behaviour around them and this is not up for negotiations.

“Apollo is strong on the lead initially and is slowly learning how to walk nicely. He is excitable on a walk and can be nervous at times.

“Apollo is uncertain around some strangers, we are unsure what upsets him however, with some people he can become scared and unsure. This needs working on and his confidence needs building.

“Apollo needs company and would prefer his humans to be around as much as possible.

“Apollo loves other dogs and is friendly although extremely playful!

“Apollo needs an active home who understand that he is mostly in top gear.

“Apollo needs further training with his recall, it is nowhere near 100% and he can suffer with selective hearing!

“Apollo is nervous around sheep however, playful with the goats! Apollo is a vocal dog, if barking is a big issue he is not the dog for you!”

Monty

“Monty is a fox red Labrador who is 2 years old.

“Monty has a wonderfully kind nature, he loves attention and is always wanting to please.

“Monty is very affectionate however, he needs patience and further training.

“Monty loves children but is very clumsy and bouncy so 8 years plus please!

“Monty needs the company of another dog that is happy around a large, boisterous dog!

“Monty loves water, play and lots of exercise! He is a good traveller and good with all other dogs.

“Monty needs a secure garden to run and play in!

“Could potentially live with a confident cat with correct introductions!

“Monty is becoming more confident and walks well on the lead. A rare treasure that is full of fun and will be a most wonderful companion!

“If you feel you could be the perfect match for Monty please send us a message telling us a little about yourself-please note Monty is not in our rescue and is with another rescue.”

Tig

“Our lovely lad, 13 month old wire haired hungarian vizsla, Tig, is still searching for that special someone…

“Tig is such a little sweetheart however, he needs a very specific home to blossom so please read carefully.

“Tig needs training as though he were 8 weeks old, he needs to learn boundaries and understand how to be a well rounded member of the family.

Good Bits:

“Tig has amazing recall and is fantastic off lead.

“Tig travels well and is happy to get in and out of vehicles.

“Tig is well house trained and does not mark in the house.

“Tig is intelligent and trainable. Tig is loving and affectionate.

“Good with other dogs. Good with cats although bouncy!

Not So Good Bits:

“Tig has separation anxiety, he will need someone who works from home as he simply howls when left during his settling in period of coming to a new home.

“Tig can be hard to manage on the lead due to him grabbing the lead (we are working on this and he has improved considerably)

“Tig is a handful in the house, he follows you everywhere, is very intense in his play style and doesn’t understand his size.

“Tig does not like children and he shows signs of anxiety around them, he is also extremely boisterous. He will NOT be rehomed with under 16s.

Tig Needs:

“An existing dog that is calm and confident, he will not suit a nervous or elderly dog.

“A physically fit and able human, 1 hour walk a day isn’t enough for Tig!

“Experience with vizslas/weimaraners/pointers.

“Someone that enjoys training dogs and is experienced doing so!

“Tig is not a first time dog owners dog! He needs a very experienced home.

“An active, adult only home!”

Rocco

“Rocco is a 5 month old, male border collie puppy.

“Rocco is a sweet little lad who clearly needs time and training. He is not your typical puppy and can be wary of strangers. Rocco was hand shy initially however, with gentleness and affection he has quickly learned to trust.

“Rocco lacks confidence however, has quickly realised he doesn’t need to be scared of us. Rocco needs a home who will put the time into showing him the world is a great place.

“Not currently neutered due to age. Has started his vaccines!

“Rocco is a typical dog for his breed – he has high energy levels, is intelligent with a strong herding instinct, is trainable and biddable.

“Previous Collie experience preferred.

“Due to Rocco’s high energy, he will require an active household.

“Rocco will need consistent training. Rocco is housetrained. He is also crate trained.

“Rocco is good with other dogs he has met thus far and would definitely benefit from having another dog in the household.

Below are some requirements for adoption – please read these BEFORE applying:

“No full time in office workers – Rocco needs company, and cannot be left for more than 4hrs due to his need to continue his house training! He is young & needs attention.

“Positive training methods only – consider attending All Positive Dog Services puppy classes, if within driving distance.

“Must have a resident dog who is tolerant of puppies. Rocco will need a friend to look up to and model his behaviours on.

“Understanding a puppy is a puppy! They pee/poop in the house, they may chew your stuff, they are playful, they need training and they take time.

“Active Homes Only — due to his breed he will be a highly intelligent active dog! Agility, scent work, sheep work or lots of activities are a must!

“He is fine with cats who are able to cope with a boisterous puppy.

“He has a strong herding instinct, and is already trying to herd our sheep! This will need to be taken into account and appropriate training undertaken.

“If you have a holiday booked this year, which the dog cannot go with you on, please don’t apply!

“No kennels – this puppy needs your time!
