Ewyas Harold Scarecrow Festival Returns This Late May Bank Holiday Saturday 24th – Sunday 25th May 2025 – a great free activity for families and visitors to enjoy at the start of the half-term holidays.
The beloved Ewyas Harold Scarecrow Festival is set to return over the late May Bank Holiday weekend, bringing creativity, community spirit, and plenty of fun to the village once again. Following the resounding success of previous years, the Ewyas Harold Craft Centre is proud to host this much-anticipated event on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th May. It’s a great free activity for families and visitors to enjoy at the start of the half-term holidays.
Established in 2017, the bi-annual event is now in its fifth edition, and continues to grow in popularity, attracting visitors from across Herefordshire and far beyond. This year, there are more than 40 entries from village residents.
Visitors can then follow the scenic Scarecrow Trail around the village, enjoy the sights, and cast their votes for their favourites. The winners will be announced at the end of the weekend, based on public votes.
The trail opens at 11:00am on Saturday and Sunday. To begin your scarecrow adventure, head to the Ewyas Harold Memorial Hall, where you can collect a trail map and make your way through the village from start to finish. Refreshments will be available throughout the weekend, including ice creams, teas and cakes on Saturday, and a barbecue on Sunday – so there’s plenty to enjoy along the way.
Organiser Nicky Duggan commented: “Each year, the entries become more creative and impressive – it’s inspiring to see how the whole village gets involved. The festival brings together families, businesses, community groups, and the schools. It’s a fantastic celebration of village life.”
In previous years, the festival has drawn visitors from across Herefordshire and beyond, adding to its growing reputation as a charming and entertaining weekend for all ages.
Don’t miss the chance to explore the creativity of Ewyas Harold’s residents and experience one of the most delightful community events of the year.
