The school production – the first for several years – was performed on two consecutive nights in April (19th and 20th) and featured students of all ages. The school’s Head of Performing Arts, Nathan Price, directed the show and everyone who took part thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

The lead actors were ably supported by the school choir and many other talented actors and backstage crew, with the latter being made up of a group of volunteersfrom one of the school’s extra-curricular groups, the’THA Helpers’.

In addition, the cast were accompanied by ‘The Boys in the Band’ – Chris Butts, Luke Strong, Rob West, Harry Barnett and Ian Russell – ably assisted by singing teacher Jenny Frost of the Hereford Soul Choir, and technician, Dan Fox, who worked with students to deliver the professional standard lighting and soundsupport.

Speaking about the success of the shows, Judith Morris, Head of Finance & Operations at the Hereford Academy, said:

“We are so proud of everyone involved in the shows as they were an absolute triumph in every way. All the students loved being part of the production and it was lovely to be able to offer them this type of opportunity again after missing out for a number of years.

“The feedback we have had from the families watching the show has been great with one describing it as a ‘must watch’, and another saying, ‘What an amazing show – well done all involved!’.

“I’d like to thank all the students who performed in the cast and also all those who offered vital support behind the scenes to ensure the performances went without a hitch. I’d also like to express my gratitude to all the staff and additional volunteers involved for their help and assistance, because without them the students would not have had the great experience they did.”
