Everybody loves a good film, don’t they?
Well over at The Loft Cinema in Hereford you can watch your favourite films on the big screen in an alternative to your standard cinema experience. We sent our film critic Lewis Pearce along to take a look. Here’s what he had to say…..
“I recently attended for the first time the much talked about local cinema experience The Loft, located on West Street in the centre of Hereford. Showcasing a range of films from recent releases to all-time classics, the cinema’s unique vision means attendees will sit in the comfort of sofas (some recliner) and have a mid-movie break with superb food and drink brought to your seat.
The well-designed location has a cool retro feel to it and the attention to film throughout the place is brilliant. From the moment you walk in, there is a superb range of nicely done props and posters from old and modern cinema which look fantastic.
The Loft has different specified nights for you to choose from. I attended The Loft on a Monday, which is their Sci-Fi night. However, also on a Monday is a deal to include a meal from the outstanding burger joint The Burger Shop. My girlfriend and I ordered our food at the bar before going to our seats and half way through the movie, the film was paused and our food was delivered to our chairs. The food was absolutely delicious. There was about a 10-15 minute interval before the second half of the movie commenced.
Other special nights include Little Lofties on a Wednesday, which is a mid-week treat for families, with films for all ages to enjoy (June featured movies such as Guardians of the Galaxy and How to Train Your Dragon).
Friday is Date Night which includes a sofa and a bottle of wine from just £22. Looking ahead to July, date night screenings include classics such as Ghost, When Harry Met Sally and one of my personal favourite movies: Drive. Finally, on Sunday’s The Loft puts on ‘Classic & A Sunday Roast’ where you can see a film and enjoy a Sunday roast from The Stables for £15.
I cannot recommend this brilliant cinema enough and once inside it really does feel like you’re not even in Hereford anymore. It’s a fresh film experience for all ages to enjoy and seems to have been created by genuine admirers of film and cinema.
Fairly priced, lovely staff and great films to choose from, please check out The Loft.”
