Fantastic news for the Southside Project!
From Belmont Wanderers:
We’re delighted to announce that we’ve received incredible support from The Woodland Trust, who are generously providing us with 210 new trees! These trees will be planted across our site as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and enhancing the natural environment at Belmont Wanderers FC.
This initiative will be a true community effort, and we’ll be inviting local residents and volunteers to help us plant these trees when they arrive in November. Not only are we ensuring that no existing trees are lost in the Southside Project development, but we’re actively improving our environment by adding new ones!
Huge thanks to the Woodland Trust for helping us make the Southside greener, healthier, and even more beautiful for generations to come. 🌿🌱
Stay tuned for details on how you can get involved in planting day!

Belmont Wanderers Football Club CIC, in partnership with E G Carter & Co Ltd, proudly announces the commencement of construction on The Southside Project.
This groundbreaking ceremony marks a significant milestone in the development of new state-of-the-art facilities, including changing rooms and a 3G pitch, which will serve the local community in Herefordshire.
Funded by the Stronger Towns initiative and the Football Foundation, the nearly £2.5 million investment in The Southside Project aims to enhance sports facilities and foster a sense of community spirit.
The project, expected to be completed by early 2026, will provide a modern venue for football and various community activities.
Chris Tipping, Chairman of Belmont Wanderers and a native of Southside, expressed his enthusiasm: “It’s fantastic to finally see the project underway and to deliver what is essential for our community.
“Having watched my own children progress from juniors to adults and even become coaches here, highlights the profound impact the club has had. We are a volunteer-driven project focused on ensuring this development benefits the local community.”
Sam Carter, Managing Director at E G Carter & Co Ltd, added, “We are excited to start construction of The Southside Project.
“This development will not only deliver exceptional facilities but also serve as a source of pride and inspiration for the community.
“Our dedication to building strong, vibrant communities aligns perfectly with the vision of this project, and we’re excited to see the positive impact it will have on Herefordshire.”
The ceremony was attended by key project partners including representatives from Ward Williams, Arbor Architects, PLAN Design, and The Stronger Towns Board, all contributing to the project’s anticipated success.
The Southside Project represents a transformative development for the Herefordshire community, promising long-term benefits through sports and recreation.
For 15 years Belmont Wanderers has played from the fields, boasting over 500 players, 30 teams, and more than 70 volunteers, now one of the largest clubs in the county – this project will ensure the club remains a pillar of community strength and engagement.
Chris Tipping concluded, “Our motto, ‘As an individual we are strong, as a team we are brilliant, as a club we are unstoppable,’ extends to the entire community. As a volunteer-driven organisation, the club not only promotes sports but also plays a pivotal role in community development and social benefits, striving to change lives one goal at a time.”
