A new, on-trend vintage clothing shop is to open at the Old Market in Hereford on Monday, in the unit previously occupied by Swarovski.

What is particularly exciting about this news is that the shop will be run by two young local business-people who have a passion for the city.

The store, called FitsZoo, will open at the Old Market on Monday at 10am and will open from 10am-6pm during the opening week of trading.

Featuring brands such as Nike, Adidas, Carhartt and Reebok, the store is no doubt going to be popular with people of all ages, but we can imagine students from the area flocking to the shop during its opening week.

Owners Freddie and Max are extremely excited about the venture, and we caught up with Freddie who had a few words to say ahead of the big opening on Monday.

“The business was established during the COVID-19 pandemic in November 2020 – initially alone, then during the 3rd lockdown (January 2021) one of my best friends (Max) joined me as a co-owner.

“The Old Market has been the main shopping area in Hereford ever since it was opened – and the particular area our shop is based puts us next to other clothing giants, which will mean that people shopping for clothing will be in that area – making our job a lot easier!

“Finding time to run the business has often been very hard, especially this year as my A-levels made it very hard to find any time at all to keep it going. Also the opening of this shop hasn’t been as seamless as our social media pages may convey – this has been in the works for months and I think I’m already starting to grow grey hairs at 18!

“One of the main reasons for starting our business was because we wanted our friends to become more aware of the impacts of fast fashion / the positives of sustainable, second-hand clothing. We differentiate ourselves by hand selecting only the best items and I am very particular with what we pick out when we go through warehouses full of clothes. I guess the fact that FitsZoo is completely run by teenagers makes it unique in some ways – probably not all good ways, but it’s just a huge learning curve for us.

“We feel that the skies the limit – we both love what we do and so will never get bored of building connections and hopefully taking the business further. The dream is to have several shops across the country (with London and Cheltenham being two places we are particularly keen on), as well as an online site that allows us to work remotely and therefore have locational freedom.”

Freddie and Max would also like to say a big thank you to Signs and Labels for producing their shop signage.
