Fantastic achievement by Hereford Community Clean Up Group and Hereford Community Adopted Area Group Volunteers this month who have been working their little socks off during February and have collected a staggering 762 bags of litter.

Some of the items they’ve collected include bikes, cones, car parts, tent, tyres, car hubs and abandoned road signs etc. Even Greyfriars underpass has had a spring clean by having weeds removed and a good sweep.

Volunteers have spent 430 hours of their spare time to make Hereford/outlying villages/trunk road verges and lay-bys tidy. It’s fantastic to see so many people with more children getting involved and spending their spare time to help improve the environment for us all.

Although this has been an amazing result it is also disappointing that so much litter is around our beautiful county, we really need people to stop dropping litter in the first place and put it in a bin, if no bin around then take it home.

A large area of Hereford is now being covered by volunteers but we still need more help in areas of Rotherwas, Portfields, College Hill, Putson and Lower Bullingham. If you’re interested in getting involved and want to help the environment where you live then please join us.

Last thing we would like you to do, is if you see a volunteer wombling then please give us an appreciation toot. Thank you to everyone that has supported us, it is really appreciated.
