24-year-old Jess Watson from Hereford is set to run the London Marathon to help raise much needed funds for Phoenix Bereavement.
The London Marathon will take place on Sunday 21st April.
Here are a few words from Jess.
“My name is Jess, I’m 24 years old and I am running in the London marathon in 2024.
“I’ve always wanted to run in the marathon but never had the motivation to actually train for it!
“In fact, the reason I started running was purely for my mental health – in March 2023 I was put on some antidepressants and was told I needed to do something alongside this to help with my mental health.
“I have always enjoyed being active and being outdoors but this is something I had stopped doing recently, so I decided to start running.
“Since then I have got better and better, and did my first half marathon in September! I am now feeling much better and really enjoying training, and can’t wait for London!
“Alongside my running I am also a physiotherapist at the Hereford County Hospital, and I’m also doing a Masters in veterinary Physiotherapy!
“When I first found out I got into London 2024 via ballot (very lucky!) I had lots of requests to run for different charities.
“The one that stood out for me was Phoenix, which one of my close friends Lucy works for.
“I know how hard she works and how much the charity does to help children in the Herefordshire community so wanted to help them raise some money to keep doing the fantastic work they are doing!”
