A children’s cancer charity has a busy 2025 planned – with famous names from the world of sport and television coming to Hereford to help mark the milestone year.
The Little Princess Trust was started in 2005 in memory of Hannah Tarplee and the charity has since gone on to help thousands of children and young people with hair loss.
This year is the charity’s 20th anniversary and, as part of an action-packed calendar, Sir Geoffrey Boycott and Alistair McGowan will both be speaking at the Castle House to raise funds for The Little Princess Trust.
Other events include a thanksgiving service at Hereford Cathedral on September 20 and an event highlighting The Little Princess Trust’s support for childhood cancer research at its Berrington Street headquarters on June 12.
The impressionist and actor, Alistair McGowan, will perform a selection of his poems at Castle House on June 24.
The event, which is in aid of The Little Princess Trust, begins at 3pm and ticket prices include a signed copy of his Mr McGowan’s book, ‘Not What We Were Expecting’, and afternoon tea.
Castle House is also the venue when one of cricket’s greatest ever batsmen will help to raise funds for The Little Princess Trust and St Michael’s Hospice.
Sir Geoffrey Boycott will talk about his brilliant cricketing career from 1pm on April 2 before a Pavilion-style tea will be enjoyed by guests.
While The Little Princess Trust’s focus will, as always, be on helping children and young people with cancer, the charity wanted to mark its 20th anniversary by highlighting its impact and thanking its supporters who have played their part in the charity’s growth and development.
An open event was held at the Hannah Tarplee Building last month when many people from Herefordshire who have played their part in helping the charity were invited along to see the progress that has been made.
Hereford hairdresser Nicola Tyler was one of many to be thanked for her efforts. She has now completed 120 hair cutsto help The Little Princess Trust’s free wig service and was made an honorary ambassador in recognition of her support.
Phil Brace, Chief Executive of The Little Princess Trust, said: “The people of Herefordshire have played, and continue to play, such a vital role in our charity’s work and we are delighted that so many in the local community are joining us in marking this special year.
“Castle House has generously supported us over the years by hosting many events in aid of The Litle Princess Trust and it is great to see more famous faces visiting the hotel to support our objectives.”
